The app is the creation of Ngāti Awa who have generously given their time and knowledge to the development, under the leadership of Pouroto Ngaropo, Chair of Te Tawera Hapū Trust.
Te Waka Tipua o Mātaatua was developed through the Ministry of Education’s Te Aho Ngārahu fund. Te Aho Ngārahu was established in 2017 as an initiative to improve access to quality te reo Māori localised curriculum resources to support ākonga, kaiako and Kāhui Ako learning in and through te reo Māori in Māori medium and English medium settings.
