Te Piupiu Pāua ki Mōtu is a language education resource focusing on the traditions of fishing, so that these treasures are not lost or forgotten.

The kāhawai is a valuable guardian for Te Whakatōhea and Te Whānau a Apanui.

This is a story by Koro Jim and his granddaughter Hanenepounamu. Koro Jim teaches his mokopuna the important environmental concepts of kaitiaki and kaitiakitanga, together with the language and art of traditional fishing.

Nā Tama Te Waiwhakaruku Hata te pukapuka i tuhi.
Nā Te Kahautu Maxwell i ētita te reo.
Nā Munro Te Whata ngā pikitia i tā.

This resource is part of Te Aho Ngārahu, a project launched by the Ministry of Education (Māori Medium) to provide New Zealand history with a new approach.
