This is the story of Mahuika, the goddess of fire, part of the Aho Wahine series of graphic novella that reimagine the traditional stories of Aotearoa from the point of view of the female characters.

Aho Wahine: Mahuika is an interpretation of an aspect of the Māori creation story told from the point of view of Mahuika, the goddess of fire.

The interactive App uses synchronised narration in te reo Māori and English, original illustrations, and authentic traditional music to tell Mahuika's story, describing how her grandson the demi-god Māui tricked her into giving away all of her power so that he could control the light and warmth on earth.
